Temple of Heaven is located in the southern part of Beijing and covers more than 273 hectares area. Both Ming and Qing ruler used it as a worship place and contributed to its development and improvement. If you visit the Temple of Heaven, you will definitely get astonished by seeing its glorious and dignified environment. Its southern section is square while the northern section has circular shape which is actually symbol of earth and heaven. The most important places inside are Hall of prayer, Imperial Heaven, Circular Mound Altar, Heaven Kitchen and many others. It was declared as World Heritage in 1998 by UNESCO.
You can also experience the 4 amazing sound effects at Temple of Heaven. First one is Echo Hall, if someone whispers near the wall you can clearly hear the voice on the other side it is because of its round shape which enables the voice to reach the person at other side.
Second one is called “Dialogue Stone” it is at 18th stone of Temple of Heaven. If someone speaks at 18th stone, the sound can clearly travel to 36 meters away at northwest side. It is such a wonderful experience; don’t miss it while visiting Temple of Heaven.
